2007 From Here to There

In 2007 I went on my first From Here to There shoot. We went from Austin to Houston. We were coming to the tail end of a flooding season that had lasted so long the ground was completely saturated with water. The only thing the rain could do was float along on top of itself and flood what seemed like the entire state. This was my first experience with flooding of this sort. I've just never been around it other than a hurricaine or two.

This first one was roadside along a farm. I was on the road with very wet shoes and was right next to the farm. Pulling back. This is a family mailbox outside of a rural home. This is the shot turning to my left.At first I thought these vultures were cut into the iron gate. But, then I saw one of them move. So we walked over to take a slow shutter shot of them flying...I love this one.

These are from inside an old church out there somewhere between Austin and Houston. Love the wood work. And, of course, a Houston cemetery in the rain.I like how she looks like she is crying.
I pulled these together after spending an obscene amount of time organizing photos this weekend. For those of us living here, it is hard to remember those rain soaked times.

The cemetery shots are so cool, also the vulture shots.
