more than who we are

It has been so long that I have been away from my kill your television project that I almost don’t know what to say. For me, the blog is like a conversation and sometimes it gets dropped. And it turns out that it isn’t one of those friends that I call and we pick up right where we left off without missing a beat. It takes me a little while to get back into it.

But, I want to blog again! yea! So, I thought I’d fill you in on some of the things I’m happy about these days. First, I’ve had two great, and by that I mean super fantastic, long conversations with my oldest and dearest friends from way back. Waaaaay back. That was very cool. I love that I’m able to stay friends with them even though we only talk but once a quarter - or year! Ha.

School started this week and it was a crazy thing. The boys are both adjusting fairly well and I think things will be good for them this year. I feel totally different sending them in to school now. Homeschooling for one semester and my attitude and perspective are completely fresh and I feel a true sense of power over the situation. I know I can help them with anything now. Feels good and it makes sending them in so much easier. Both of them have come to me independently and asked me if they could still do homework with me if they had any trouble with the workload. Now THAT felt good.
I am at a complete loss while they are in school. I’ll get over it and get busy with things, but it is such a shift.

And I miss them.

I feel a stronger sense of community this year with my neighbors and old friends alike. It’s a good thing. That never comes easily to me, but this summer I’m feeling the love. It’s been an emotional summer and I think I’m more open to people than I’ve been in a loooong time. And it’s nice.

Our TV is dying. The irony is killing me. I won’t agree to buy a new one, so we are at an impasse. Pretty funny all around. The children are quietly screaming inside…

The boy has a cell phone. Oh my goodness… I think I might have to choke a puppy! He recorded his own ringtone that goes, “ring ring RING RING RING ring ring RING!!!” Pretty effing hilarious.

I am getting into the cooking thing. I’ve been completely inspired by my parents, Lisa and the movie Julie&Julia and so I’m getting into it. It is working out very well. And I am loving it. Jason is my main helper and we are learning together.
cool.

I’m going to keep posting photos from summer until I can post no more!

Enjoy,
Amanda

Yeah, you posted!!!!! I am so happy that you are inspired to cook, I have TONS of recipes for you to choose from. Jason was so cute this afternoon, telling me ALL about school and also taking a few minutes to teach Sophie how to read : ).

I have a friend like your friend. We met in the Army in the early 1970s. Since then we have seen each other less times than you can count on one hand. We talk on the telephone once or twice a year. Sometimes we email each other. It seems, though, each time we communicate with each other no time has passed. We pretty much pick up where we left off. Isn't it wonderful having a friend like that?
