Science class

The kids and I went to Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory to complement our science classes. We've been studying environments and life cycles, so this fit in well. Our instructor, who, by the way, looks just like my geography professor from college, taught us all about the bugs and small animals that live in the fields there. He was totally cool.


Here's Jason checking out some of the work we did. The group gets a lesson and we also volunteer to work on whatever project they are doing. Today we marked off different holes that the animals had dug. They normally don't know, but since the drought has gone on so long, we can see the ground.

The boys enjoyed working together. It was really cute, even if I am their mom.

This was the ant pile that Jason knew all about and got to explain to everyone. It was cool.

The whole thing with volunteering started because Thomas wanted to earn a ribbon for community service for the Sea Cadets. He researched the places he wants to go and set it up for us. Now, it has become part of our homeschooling, too. I had a blast and the boys did, too, so I highly recommend checking them out.
